Elbi

It’s a bit late. I sit in my desk facing my laptop thinking of what to write about…Thinking if I should write about anything today. Yesterday evening I officially moved in and settled in my new home. My home for the next X number of months/years. My first time to live in a dormitory inside a huge university campus- quite nice! My first time to live in a little town relatively far away from the hustle and bustle of the city which I grew up waking up to.  This is about my second week aboard a very challenging job and I feel my gun is just starting to develop the muscles it needs to shoot and transition smoothly. My second week and I can say that I am already starting to like this new place. Yes, I am. I like the fact that everything and everyone around here feels high and spirited yet so laidback. I like that this place gives me this feeling of wanting to write about something. I like the fact that this new season hands me the time and the opportunity to take my walks and breaths a little more seriously. I like that this moment allows me to marvel at the smiles of people around me, the food I eat and that smell of freshly-cut grass married to morning dew. It excites me to know that at this exact moment of my life I can freely sit down and flip through the pages of a book and actually indulge. Elbi is a special place and the Big Guy up there sent me here for a special mission and I am just about to unravel that. J

Calling

No more than a hundred people in the Bible received an individual (clear pa sa clear copy), call from God to do an exact job. Noah to build that titan ark. David and Gideon to do political leadership. Abram and Sarah for journeys to relocate. Samuel and Jeremiah to become prophets. Saul for missionary work. So, not everyone receives a calling to a specific job. We get confused. I get confused, a lot. My prayers would normally be full of, “What do you want to me to do next, Lord?" or "Which one is it?" The dramatic calling from God or that unmistakable command is infrequent today, though it can certainly happen. So, how about this kind of prayer instead? A prayer for Him to open our eyes, ears, heart and spirit to be filled with the knowledge of His will. For wisdom to follow us in the work that we are currently doing. To ask Him to help us walk in obedience to the things that He shows us. At the end of the day, our ultimate calling in the Bible is to follow Jesus.
